Frame your photos for the perfect Mother’s Day gift with SworlNeed some inspiration? See what the Sworl Team are framing for their moms this Mother’s Day:

Tom_mothers_day

Our CEO and Co-Founder, Tom, is framing his mom a picture from his family’s happy place: “We spend a week every year in Lake Tahoe with my 4 siblings and our families.  Here’s my favorite photo of me and my mother, from our trip there in 2013.”

Tom chose a 5×7 photo in a black matted wall frame for his mom. ($30.98 including gift wrapping, message and delivery.)

Steve_mother's Day

Steve, our Co-founder, chose this photo to frame for himself as a special memory of his mom: “Mother‘s Day has always been special to me.  It has been magnified since she passed away a few years ago.  This is a picture of my mom with our kids.  She was a great sport and allowed them to celebrate her birthday with hats, cake and a party fit for a 5-year-old.  Mom was always there for me and loved the opportunity to come visit and be nana”.

Steve chose to frame this picture for his office in a silver 5×7 desk frame. ($19.98 including gift wrapping, message and delivery.)

Chris_Mother's Day

Sworl CTO Chris, decided on a photo from his younger days this mother’s day because “My mom resists having her photo taken these days, but I have this one from ages ago that I’ve been meaning to print/frame for a while now. My sister is the newborn, so it must be from 1977. It’s a scan from a print, but I’ve always thought it is a good photo – clearly my mom‘s happy about the new baby. I think I’m just confused. :)”

Chris selected a larger 8×10 photo in a classic Espresso matted wall frame to show off this classic photo!($49.98 including gift wrapping, message and delivery.)

Helen_Mother's Day

Helen, Head of Marketing and Brand, chose a photo of her mum (not a mis-spelling – she’s a Brit!) from last November – “My mum loves to travel so for her birthday, we treated her to a trip from Old England to New England! The highlights of her trip were a visit to Louisa May Alcott’s house (we are both massive fans of Little Women) and a rainy but fun day to Plimoth Plantation for Thanksgiving dinner.”

Helen chose a square, white matted wall frame to show off this instagram photo, of her and mum Celia hanging out with the Pilgrims. ($30.98 including gift wrapping, message and delivery.)

“I found out about Sworl from a trade publication. It’s a cool app—the service was great and I was super impressed with the packaging.”

Travel Photo

“Our guide took this picture of my girlfriend Cheri and me while we were on a private Segway tour on a hot summer Sunday in Rome.  We whizzed around to the less photographed side of the Colosseum and he took the shot in panorama mode on my iPhone.  It was a great day, the lighting was good, and this photo turned out to be one of my favorites from the trip. The tour company was Rex-Tours and I’d definitely recommend them.

“I found out about Sworl from a trade publication. It’s a cool app—the service was great and I was super-impressed with the packaging. I’ve used it several times now, including sending framed prints of another travel photo to some buddies after a Cape Cod dune tour.”

“I liked the colors and the message… Using Sworl was great—just a few swipes on my phone to get this beautifully framed photo.”

power of love

“I took this photo while visiting friends in New York this fall. Early one morning we were walking uptown to a TV show taping. First we saw Robert Indiana’s recently installed HOPE sculpture, a sibling of his LOVE that I’d seen in Philadelphia.

“Three blocks later, at Sixth Avenue and West 55th Street, there was New York’s own LOVE. I liked the colors and the message—a reminder of how I should treat others. There are now about 40 LOVE sculptures around the world, and the HOPE I saw is the first of several planned.

“I took the picture around 7 a.m., giving me the chance to get the shot without a lot of people in what is usually a very busy intersection. I like that it’s a reminder of how oddly peaceful New York can be at times.

Printed and framed by Joe Campos, Seattle, WA, for his sons Roman and Trason.

“Recently, Eagleclaw Football Academy entered a partnership with Sworl. Many of the photos Eagleclaw parents take of their kids during our training sessions and games are taken and stored on iPhones.  With Sworl, those captured moments can be easily framed and delivered—a perfect way to share memories with family and friends.

“From each sale made using a special promotional code, Eagleclaw families receive a 10% discount and Sworl contributes 10% of the purchase price to Eagleclaw’s RallyMe Scholarship Campaign for financially disadvantaged kids. Our goal is to raise enough scholarship funds to pay for 10 kids to train for a full year at Eagleclaw.

“It’s working really well for us, and I hope other groups will follow this win-win model.

soccer, sports, boys

“Here’s my son Roman with two former Eagleclaw Football Academy coaches who are professional soccer players—David Estrada of DC United and Andy Rose of the Seattle Sounders.

“I started training Roman and his younger brother Trason to be soccer players when they were first able to walk. I taught them to dribble,  keep the ball close, zig-zag with the ball and attack the goal. As they grew older, I continued to teach my boys more ball control skills and a love for the game. Soon, my sons’ friends were joining us for training and a team had formed. The kids called themselves Eagleclaw, and the name stuck. I really couldn’t properly train more than 14 players on my own, but kids continued to be drawn to the Eagleclaw philosophy of teaching young players technical skill.

“At the time, Seattle did not have a player-centered youth soccer school. There were many youth soccer clubs, but none put individual instruction ahead of developing teams. As interest continued to grow, I decided to expand Eagleclaw into a soccer school for boys and girls ages 5 to 15 offering comprehensive tactical and technical training.

“In fall and spring semesters, we use a Dutch-inspired curriculum based on the Ajax Academy training program and the Coerver Method of technical instruction. Most of our staff are current or former professional players. Our focus is building individual skills from a foundation of ball mastery. We have no tryouts or cuts and welcome all players, whether or not they belong to another youth soccer club. Our primary goal is to create a positive training environment where each player can develop technical and tactical skills to his or her best level.

Scholarship funds

“The second photo shows the Sea Eagles, an Eagleclaw Development team made up of 7-, 8- and 9-year-olds, including my son Trason, who’ve played together since last August.  This Fall, the Sea Eagles were Divisional Champions in the Under-9 division of the Puget Sound Premier League.  The photo was taken after their first victory of the season and perfectly captures the joy on their faces!”

SisterPrinted and framed by Tiffany Davis, Seattle, WA, to keep on her desk

“Since we live far apart, I don’t get to see Madi nearly as often as I’d like to, but I love having this Sworl framed photo of us to look at.”

“Here I am with my youngest sister, Madison. She turned one in January —we’re 25 years apart! My dad remarried and now he and my stepmom have Madi and Angela, who’s three. Madi is quite a funny and feisty little girl and loves to compete with Angela.

“The photo was taken last August at my grandma’s surprise 80th birthday party in my hometown, Payette, Idaho. Madi’s half-Filipino and I’m half-Mexican but there’s a definite family resemblance. We both have one dimple, on different sides, along with our grandma’s chin, so we tried to take a picture that showed those features. We took four or five shots—it’s hard to make a baby hold still—but she was laughing and happy the whole time. Since we live far apart, I don’t get to see Madi nearly as often as I’d like to, but I love having this Sworl framed photo of us to look at.”

“These images bring back great memories for my family. Now they’re out of the albums and onto a table, ready to enjoy for many Halloweens to come.”

Halloween photos

It’s that time again: leaves are turning, nights are chilly, and pumpkins, spider webs, tombstones and ghosts are popping up all around the neighborhood.

For our family, the years of trick or treating and grade school Halloween carnivals are over. My girls are now in high school and college, and while they still love dressing up, the costumes now skew glamorous rather than spooky.sppoky Halloween photo

We were recently looking at old Halloween photos in albums from the early 2000s when we still routinely had prints made. I shot some of our favorites with my iPhone and decided to Sworl them up for a little Halloween display.

kid Halloween photo

Here’s Julia as Pippi Longstocking, a witch and Snow White, and Laura as a devil and ghost, along with a strange candlestick my wife found at a yard sale, a big plastic spider we’ve had for decades, and a haunted house the kids painted at a party years ago. We chose 4 x 6 and 5 x 7 desk frames in Espresso and ankids Halloween photo 8 x 10 wall frame in Black.

These images bring back great memories for my family. And with Sworl, now they’re out of the albums and onto a table, ready to enjoy for many Halloweens to come.

“I had several framed copies made. Without Sworl, I would never have sent that gift to everyone—I would have put it off and put it off.  They loved them! Such great reminders of a special time together.”

Frame Vacation Photos

“For the last eight years, my mother, who’s fifth from the left in the photo, has taken my family to Mexico. This year we went to the wonderful Sandos Caracol Eco Resort and Spa on the Mayan Riviera, complete with a recycling and composting program, wild monkeys, and a spay and neuter program for feral cats.

“On each trip, we try to take a group picture. On this very hot day, we were all in the pool together—except for my brother-in-law, who took the photo. You can see how many women are in the family!
