Printed and framed by Dawn Merydith, Seattle, for her mom, sister and sister-in-law

“I had several framed copies made. Without Sworl, I would never have sent that gift to everyone—I would have put it off and put it off.  They loved them! Such great reminders of a special time together.”

“For the last eight years, my mother, who’s fifth from the left in the photo, has taken my family to Mexico. This year we went to the wonderful Sandos Caracol Eco Resort and Spa on the Mayan Riviera, complete with a recycling and composting program, wild monkeys, and a spay and neuter program for feral cats.

“On each trip, we try to take a group picture. On this very hot day, we were all in the pool together—except for my brother-in-law, who took the photo. You can see how many women are in the family!

A special request (and offer) from noted photographer (and Sworl fan) Wes Paz:

“My mentor Jim Clark just retired from his photography career, and I’d like to acknowledge his contribution to my life by helping raise funds for Youth in Focus, an organization that uses after-school photography programs to help at-risk youth find purpose in their lives. Would you help me?”

“In 1979, at age 17, I was given a life-changing chance to become a photojournalist. At a time when I didn’t have a plan, the kindness of news photographer Jim Clark helped shape my future. Now, 35 years into an extraordinary journey that’s included six newspapers, dozens of magazines, worldwide assignments and various photo-related businesses, I have an opportunity to return the favor and I hope you can help me!

Youth in Focus is a Seattle-based organization that for 20 years has used after-school photography programs to help at-risk youth find purpose in their lives. It can guide them through uncertainty about their futures and connect them to a community that cares for them. Thousands of young lives have been positively and permanently transformed.

“Since Jim Clark just retired from his photography career—he was most recently on the staff of Oregon’s Gresham Outlook—I would like to acknowledge his contribution to my life in part through a charitable contribution to Youth in Focus.

“I hope I can help raise a substantial portion of the $10,000 needed to run their program for a quarter.

“Please consider helping me ‘pay it forward’ by making a tax-deductible contribution to Youth in Focus in the name of my mentor, Jim Clark. Contributions can be as little as $10 and donating will take just a moment on the Youth in Focus website. Please be sure to mention in the comments section that you’re contributing to the Jim Clark program sponsorship. And if you’re a personal friend of Jim, please don’t share details with him—it’s meant to be a surprise!”

“For the first ten people to donate $250 or more, I’ll send you a Sworl-framed 9 x 9 print of your choice from my Facebook Album (Image size 5″ x 5″, white mat, quality wood frame in White, Black, Espresso or Silver) And if you donate over $1,000, I’ll send you a Sworl-framed 17 x 17 print! (Image size 11″ x 11″, white mat, quality wood frame in White, Black, Espresso or Silver.)

“Sworl, by the way, is a fantastic app—it’s fun, easy and only takes a couple minutes to make an order. The quality of prints, mats and frames is great, and I love the way the frames are packaged and how fast they arrive. It’s better than sending flowers and lasts a lot longer!

“Thank you for joining me in supporting a safe, encouraging, skills-building program for at-risk youth—and for helping me to acknowledge the generosity extended to me by Jim Clark at that pivotal moment in my own youth.

“The time for action is NOW! Youth in Focus is celebrating its 20th Anniversary on October 4th—details are on their website if you’d like to attend. Please feel free to forward this post to see how many potential contributors we can reach. I truly appreciate your partnership in this goal!”
